Deirdre Cahill

  • Deirdre graduated in 1994 from UCD.


  •  She worked in the Louth County Hospital as a basic grade physiotherapist.
  • In 1995 she began work for Pinecrest Hospital Delray Beach Florida. She worked in their outpatient department & in late 1995 set up specialized clinics for the treatment of patient’s with lymphoedema post mastectomy & cancer related physiotherapy.
  • From here she progressed to specializing in the treatment of incontinence & sexual dysfunction & was accepted for presentation at the annual APTA conference for a research article on biofeedback activity for the relationship of the biofeedback ratio for abdominal strength & pelvic floor strength in the return of continence & sexual function.
  • Pinecrest hospitals & NME hospitals amalgamated to form TENET Hospital Corporation, the largest hospital Corporation in the United States, Deirdre worked in a burn unit in Miami specializing in paediatric burns.
  • She then moved into a trauma unit in Miami & took a course in Kinesiotaping in 1997 prior to moving into the area of professional sports in outpatients dealing with athletes returning to professional sports. She was integral in the establishment & running of a Golf specific assessment & treatment clinic in Linton Park.
  • From here she moved into Occupational Health in Palm Beach. She was involved in the setting up & running of 12 separate outpatient clinics in South Florida using the Isernhagen method for assessing & treating injured workers, & was actively involved in the return to work process for the Florida Highway patrol, USPS, the US Navy, the Miami/Dade fire department, UPS & many Florida police departments.
  • Prior to her return to Ireland Deirdre returned to work in Paediatric development & disability & Women’s Health in Boca Raton.
  • In November 1999 Deirdre returned to Ireland & worked in Paediatric development & disability in the Community in the Louth County Hospital, setting up clinics & visiting children in their homes.
  • Deirdre set up the Irish Centre for Occupational Rehabilitation (ICOR) in 2000, it changed name in 2009 to the Irish Centre for Assessment Rehabilitation & Ergonomics (ICARE).
  • Deirdre Currently works in ICARE assessing client’s for return to work or permanent health disability, she does on site functional job analysis, assesses work place environments & rehabilitates people for return to the work place. She is actively involved in proactive healthcare & promoting wellness in a number of large companies.
  • She was the club physiotherapist for Clondalkin Rugby Club from 2007 to 2015. She is club physiotherapist to a few Leinster junior soccer teams. Deirdre has worked with professional soccer players in Ireland & was club physiotherapist to a few league of Ireland teams over the past 15years.
  • Deirdre is actively involved with some county hurlers, marathon runners, boxers & triatheletes. Deirdre is club physiotherapist to some under age soccer clubs in the Rathcoole, Saggart & Newcastle area.


  • Deirdre’s sports include basketball, triathlon’s, horse riding & running. She was on the Irish underage tetrathlon team, she hunted with the Louth & Oriel Harrier’s, she played national league basketball & got to the semifinals of the hoop it up competition in Delray Beach. Deirdre is passionate about music & plays piano & saxophone.
